The Czech Aero Vodochody aircraft manufacturer carries out the overhaul of Tunisian and Thai L-59s. At the very end of whole process the aircrafts will have to complete a complex flight test program which is similar to programs used to test new aircrafts.
The L-59Ts trainer and light attack aircrafts were delivered 10 years ago. The first out of three aircrafts currently being overhauled made it first flight on the 1st December 2005. The flight was successful and according to the pilot there`s now no difference between the old and a new aircraft`s cockpit.

Tunisia bought 12 L-59s for its air force in 1995 which are based at Gafsa Air Base. Photo: Aero Vodochody
