The 3rd JETfly Dogfight Cup, the biggest virtual air battle of all times was organized on two consecutive weekends. About 190 participants fought in two categories in the Budapest International Fair’s virtual sky.
The engagements of the 3rd Hungarian Flight Simulation Championship came to an end on the 25th September 2005. Both the MiG29 and the Messerschmitt Bf-109 category were good for a surprise. Last year`s winners of both categories weren`t able to make it into the best four and after last year`s shame the real fighter pilots showed again, that although their knowledge comes from the real life, they are also worthy opponents in the virtual skies. Captain Tibor Molnár, fighter pilot of the MH59. Szentgyörgyi Dezső Airbase won the fourth place.
Visitors were served with spectacular and high class rounds on all four days of the event. On the last day Péter "Putyin" Görög and Balázs "Reaper" Rohr, participants in the modern jet fighter category, and Gábor "Vogel" Kovács and Imre "Chewy" Szabó, competitors in the World War II fighter category made it into the final. The semi-finals and finals were witnessed by hundreds of spectators, several MiG-29 and Mi-24 pilots and the commanding officers of the air bases in Kecskemét and Szolnok.
Final results of the 3rd JETfly Dogfight Cup:
Il-2 category (Bf-109)
1. Gábor "Vogel" Kovács (V.4 Dongó Squadron)2. Imre "Chewy" Szabó (VO101 Puma Squadron)3. Péter "Hetti" Petrik (V.4 Dongó Squadron)4. Márk "Yosser" Sebestyén (VO101 Puma Squadron)

Best active Fighter pilot
Captain Tibor "MoTi" Molnár (MH 59. Szentgyörgyi Dezső Air Base, Kecskemét), won the fourth place in the Lock On (MiG-29) category.
The two winners will now bear the title of the "best virtual pilot" until the next JETfly Dogfight Cup, scheduled for autumn 2006.
All participants of the championship fought fair and respected the rules, however there were some who really showed the meaning of fair play. Therefore Béla "Lecsó" Véghseő (VO101 Puma Squadron, Il-2 category) and István "wittman" Taizs (Lock On category) were honored with the Fair Play Award.
Fans of flight simulators have no reason to be sad, since the aerial engagements in the virtual skies continue between the 23-26th November 2005. As part of the C+D Defense Fair the First European Flight Simulation Championship, the "FORTIS Dogfight Cup" will be held early this winter, once again in pavilion B. This time international teams of two, called sections will compete against each other.

Mi történt azon a napon? Ha a Nap egy bizonyos szögből sütött a kecskeméti légibázis betonjára, sokáig egy ezüstös csík emlékeztetett a 2008. április 17-i repülésre.
